Carole 27th August 2011

It's rained all day today, not a beautiful warm, sunny day like it was last year. Perhaps they were tears for the one who should be here but isn't. "Get me to the conservatory on time", you asked Elayne to make you a sign saying that, she did & you stuck on the back of your 'wheels'. It made us all smile & in a day that many tears were shed it was a much needed smile. I think we always hoped that Elayne, being our only daughter, would have a dream wedding, like you see on TV or in films & magazines. We never could have known that her wedding would be nothing like any of those nor could we have known what a beautiful wedding she would actually have, how truly in love with each other you both were that nothing else mattered.Everyone cries at a wedding, it's the law ! & we cried because we were so happy you two were getting married, we cried because we knew that even though it was a lovely wedding it wasn't how you or any of us hoped your wedding day would be & we cried because we knew you would not be here for your 1st or any other anniversary, that was the saddest part of the day. If you have any way of knowing how things are here you don't need me to tell you how Elayne is bringing up Michael just as you would have & I think you must be feeling so proud of her for that. He's growing up so quickly & is such a lovely little man, a mini Andrew. Yes, I think you'd be proud of both of them.
